A Special Visit to Vienna
We are pleased to announce that the Society has organised a short visit to Vienna from Saturday 10 October – Monday 12 October 2026. We have been delighted by the level of interest in this visit, and thank everyone who has registered; the trip is now fully booked.
For the days in Vienna, we have arranged a variety of activities, including a visit to the Vienna English Theatre, a meeting with members of one of the Society’s sister organisations in Austria, the Austro-British Society (die Österreichisch-Britische Gesellschaft), and a traditional lunch at a Heuriger. There will also be an opportunity to hear the Vienna Boys Choir singing Mass in the Hofburgkapelle.
We look forward to sharing updates and photos from the trip and hope that members who are not able to join us on this occasion will have the opportunity to participate in future planned trips to Austria.

AAS 2025 Chamber Music Exchange Project
The Society’s 2025 Chamber Music Exchange project took place in November, when a piano trio (piano, violin, ‘cello) from the Universität Mozarteum in Salzburg (Trio Rupnik) met and made music with a piano trio from the Royal College of Music, London (Rossetti Trio).
On the evening of Wednesday 12 November, during the week when the two trios were together in Salzburg, they gave a concert in the Wienersaal of the Stiftung Mozarteum.
In the following week, when they were together in London, there were two evening concerts, each with a different programme, each with an Anglo-Austrian theme.
For the first London concert, at The Warburg Institute on 18 November, each of the trios performed a Mozart Piano Trio. There was also a talk about the links between the trios, Vienna and London. For the second concert, at the Austrian Embassy on 20 November, the musicians performed music by Korngold, Bridge and Brahms. Both London events ended with a reception, during which audience members met and talked with the young performers.
All occasions were much enjoyed by those who attended.
There will be a further Chamber Music Exchange Project in 2027.
